New experiences and summer fun: National Summer Camps Program

The Support Our Troops National Summer Camps Program offers children from military families a chance to create memories for life. And you have the opportunity to contribute to this exciting program!

The children of military families often seek opportunities to connect with their ever-changing community, particularly their peers. Support Our Troops has found that summer camps are a fun and effective way for them to engage with their community.  

Each year, military families across the country can apply for a summer camp grant to reduce the financial barriers of attending camp. These grants are made possible thanks to the generosity of our donors.  

The program aims to reach children of military families experiencing some of the unique circumstances of military life, including:   

• Children with special needs and/or siblings of children with special needs 

• Children and dependents of ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members 

• Children of deceased Canadian Armed Forces members 

• Children and dependents of Canadian Armed Forces members who are: currently deployed; on prolonged course or training program; or scheduled for deployment or serving away from their families. 

Here is what one parent said about the program:  

“We could have never afforded to send our kids if we had not received this grant! They had an amazing time and created special memories. We are so grateful that they got to go, especially with their dad overseas this summer. It helped to make positive memories during a tough time otherwise. Thank you!”
